The Missing Monkeys

If you have read the Dandy Annual 2013, you may have noticed that one of Lew Stringer's Smasher stories was printed twice! The reason is that Mike D (artist of Bone-O) produced a one page Monkey Bizness, which originally appeared in The Dandy in the late '60's - early 70's. Somehow, the page he produced vanished, and as a result - Smasher's story was repeated! A panel from the missing story is at the top of the post. Who knows - maybe one day we will see the full result!

Bamboo Town was on the back of the first Dandy. Monkey Bizness was a strip in around 1969/70 and probably longer (it was in the 1971 Dandy book) about a monkey shopkeeper and his nephew and niece who were supposed to be working for him, and drawn by John Geering.

Cheers Andy! I've only read one or two Bamboo Town strips then, do you have any idea what it was generally about?
I'll take a look in the '71 annual at the Monkey Bizness story.

Interesting... Will Dawbarn has also announced that a fourth Badd Lads story missed out due to the printing error! So now that brings up another question - what replaced The Badd Lads? :O

Good point! I didn't notice any other reprints?

Bamboo Town's theme seems to have been the two monkeys trying to organise something but the main panel (where there was more than one) showing the absolute chaos that resulted, with regular characters. I've only seen odd reprints here and there myself, probably the same ones as yourself!

Smasher replaced both Monkey Bizness and Badd Lads - it's a two pager.
